The Smithfield Branch of Blackwater Regional Library is excited to announce the 2016 Black History Month celebration at Smithfield Center will continue on Sunday, February 28th at 3:00 p.m., with the return of Ms. Sheila Arnold’s “History’s Alive!” presentations with the story of Daisy Bates, who was the backbone of the Little Rock Nine, during the Arkansas NAACP’s efforts to integrate the Little Rock schools.
“The Smithfield branch library has been honored to host the Black History Month programs at Smithfield Center for several years and are thrilled to continue the tradition, said Ben Neal, Branch Manager of the Smithfield Library. “Ms. Sheila Arnold is a uniquely talented performer and we can’t wait to see her bring the inspiring story of Daisy Bates to life.”
Ms. Sheila Arnold is the CEO and lead performer of the Hampton-based “History’s Alive”, and has given over 600 performances in 26 states to audiences of all ages and works regularly with the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.
This event is free and open to the public and will be held on Sunday, February 28th at 3:00 p.m. at Smithfield Center, located at 220 North Church Street, Smithfield, VA 23430.
