The Jones-Stewart Mansion is a stunning example of an antebellum plantation house, built in 1854. The home offers a fascinating glimpse into the lives of two families, the Jones's and the Stewarts. Enjoy the antique furniture, books, light fixtures, and domestic wares that are on display. Feel yourself welcomed by the hospitality of Southeastern Virginia as you view this beautiful historic home. The last tour begins at 4:15 p.m. Allow 30-40 minutes per tour. Upon arrival at the back door (garden side of the house), a volunteer interpreter will greet you. If a Tour in Progress sign is posted, enjoy the porches, formal garden, Brick Kitchen, and our Friends of Chippokes Gift Shop while you wait for the next tour. Visitors who wish to tour the mansion when it is closed can call 757-294-3439 to schedule a private tour. Please schedule private tours a month ahead of time.
