Kenneth M. Sullivan, Smithfield Foods' incoming chief executive officer, will be a guest speaker at the chamber's Richard J. Holland Pre-Session Legislative Breakfast Forum, Thursday, January 7, 2016, at the Smithfield Center.
Senators Tommy Norment and John Cosgrove and Delegate Rick Morris have confirmed their participation in the legislative forum, and all other members of Isle of Wight County's legislative delegation have been invited.
Mr. Sullivan, currently president and chief operating officer at Smithfield Foods, was named to replace CEO C. Larry Pope upon Mr. Pope's retirement, effective December 31. Mr. Sullivan has held a number of positions within the company. Prior to joining Smithfield in 2003, he spent twelve years at large public accounting and consulting firms.
The Richard J. Holland Pre-Session Legislative Breakfast Forum, sponsored by Farmers Bank and the Town of Smithfield, is a valuable opportunity to engage with the county's legislative delegation on issues facing the Commonwealth and Isle of Wight County. A question and answer session will follow their presentations. Listen and discuss how your elected officials can best represent you in the upcoming General Assembly, and to share your priorities and requests.
This is also a great opportunity for our local high school students, please consider sponsoring a student today. Contact the chamber at (757) 357-3502 or via e-mail for more information.
