Evelyn Laine Yeoman Crider, who for many years was music director and organist at Benn’s, will be remembered May 7 at 4:00 pm with a performance by the Richmond Concert Chorale under the direction of Dr. Ryan Tibbetts. The Chorale, an auditioned group of Richmond singers, will delight the audience with a program that Evelyn would have loved. This concert is made possible by a generous contribution by her daughters Anne Yeoman and Connie Yeoman Henderson.
The program will consist of beautiful music appropriate to the memory of Evelyn: Evening Canticles by Roland Martin, Hymn to St. Cecilia by Benjamin Britten, Sing Joyfully by William Byrd and by other composers such as J.S. Bach, Orlando Lassus, Blake Henson, Heinrich Schütz and Elliott Carter. The choir will conclude with John Stainer’s Seven-Fold Amen, often used by Evelyn to conclude Benn’s services. Contributions will be accepted to support the music scholarship in Evelyn Crider’s name, awarded by Benn’s United Methodist Church. A reception will follow the concert in the Family Life Center. This concert was organized for Benn’s by Sundays at Four.
