Sunset on the James

Meet at the parking lot across from the Farm and Forestry Museum Description: Join us for a relaxing paddle on the James river and watch the sun sink slowly from the sky. Let your worries melt away with this beautiful canoe paddle. Length and intensity of trip is dependent upon conditions. Check local forecasts and contact canoe guides at 757-294-3439 for program status. To be eligible for our excursion, guests must be over 45 lbs or supply their own coast guard approved type III personal floatation device. Canoes are outfitted with two seats and cargo room. Total weight load maximum per canoe is not to exceed 1000 lbs. No pets permitted. Cost is $11 per individual or $6 per person for group of 4 or more. Fees include canoe, paddle, safety equipment, instruction, and interpretive guides. Participants are required to bring their own drinking water, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, and bug spray. Please wear appropriate footwear (NO bare feet and/or shoes that may slip off the feet). Register and pay at the Visitor Center.
